Police officer accidentally fires his machine gun in a Christmas market
Hannover - A police officer accidentally fires a round with his sub-machine gun in a Christmas market in Hannover.
After the incident last Monday, a similar one happened on Wednesday near a police station when a gun accidentally fired according to spokesman of the police of Lower Saxony.
Nobody was injured. The incidents were previously reported by the Hannoversche Allgemeine newspapers.
The security measures in many German Christmas markets have been increased after the attack at Breitscheidplatz last year.
Also in Lower Saxony the police are in charge of securing the Christmas markets. They are equipped with 9mm sub-machine guns of type MP5 .
The guns are now being examined by experts. Improper use hasn't been ruled out.
Since in both cases the guns were pointing down, the bullets just hit the ground.
