Here is a statement on their website.
If the question is defining reasonable then I have no reason to trust them. I simply do not trust them to define civil liberties consistently if those rights pit conservative views against liberal ones.

And yet they have come out on the side of the right being an individual right before. Hmm...
I don't agree with their entire body of work, but I'm happy they exist. The last time I volunteered my efforts, it was a successful campaign that prevented the use of automated license plate readers by the police. They can use them, but only with judicial oversight on a case by case basis and there are strict rules about the data they collect and how it can be used.
You might say that is a liberal view but it isn't really. It is a libertarian view, the side opposite authoritarian on the political compass.
I am on the political left, by the way. I'm just not on the authoritarian side of the spectrum. I fall close to the Libertarian Socialist camp. I'm what Libertarians where before the idiocy that is Ayn Rand took over.
And no one organization is always going to be right. It just doesn't work like that. If you're waiting for someone to be right 100% of the time before you help, I see that as a cop out and just an excuse to do nothing except for bitch. Hell, the ACLU has fought for the rights of Nazis to march in a predominantly Jewish neighborhood. If you want them to change, fight from within the organization. Join, take part, and speak. They love volunteers.
