There might be a few drawbacks. For one, your teeth might continue to keep growing unabated like sharks and your teeth would then need sanding like a horses shoes.

But I'm hoping the dental unions won't get in the way of this medical treatment.

Thats not a drawback unless the person is retarded. Even animals with constantly growing teeth have figured out how to deal with that

Just replace the dental work needed for cavities with regular teeth sanding. Everyones happy

Actually, you may be thinking of rodents. Squirrels, rabbits, mice, rats, et al, need to keep gnawing on stuff to wear their incisor teeth down, because they never stop growing.

Sharks have basically a "conveyor belt" of teeth that rotate into position.
