Hypocrisy, greed and illegal immigration. I had a conversation yesterday with an older lady. She and her husband had moved to Nevada from MexiKali to escape high taxes in retirement. She was all for the illegals because, gasp, the price of a carrot will increase if we pay living wages to people working in MexiKali's Central Valley farms. She believed no self-respecting American would stoop to manual labor in the fields. I really took offense at this statement and told her that I had worked picking string beans as a kid. Besides, I told her, using the illegals in the fields for less than a living wage forced their children onto (hidden) welfare that we Americans are paying. This is economic slavery. Her response to that slavery statement? "So?" Cheap carrots was all she was concerned about; nothing about empathy for another human being in another state. Sigh. That is what American has come to: cheap carrots, hypocrisy and greed.

  • Bad news for the left: There is no such thing as "living wages" and you cannot create prosperity with regulations

  • The reason farmers are employing foreigners is because US labourers have been regulated out of the market. If you want them to be employed again then remove the barriers preventing them from reentering the employment market.

I told her, using the illegals in the fields for less than a living wage forced their children onto (hidden) welfare that we Americans are paying.

So stop paying them welfare. Problem solved.

This is economic slavery.

Only if you redefine slavery to mean something which has nothing to do with actual slavery.

"So?" Cheap carrots was all she was concerned about; nothing about empathy for another human being in another state.

Why should she have more empathy for the guy you prefer instead of the guy who has the job?

Sigh. That is what American has come to: cheap carrots, hypocrisy and greed.

How is that hypocritical?

I bet that the older lady has been nothing but an upper middle class house wife. Most people who've worked don't usually look down on others like that.

Boomers are the most vile generation in human history. Not even current year leftists are as disgusting as them.

Ideally we could get university students and recovering drug addicts to do all the types of jobs that Mexicans currently do. We could make drugs legally available through clinics where rehab would always be available and this would be the way these people found employment during and after recovery. Working outside in the sun could have an immense effect on a struggling person recovering from drugs. The work could really take your mind off things and the sun is very healthy for your mentality and emotional state.

None of those things increases the power of the state.

None of those things will happen because the state doesn't give up power it only takes it.
