As usual, absolutely no concrete examples are provided to justify the extension of Anti-Encryption policy. Nothing more than the Fear mongering we've all come to recognize as the go-to rhetoric spewed by those in power to perpetuate their control and push a certain agenda.

Come to Australia, all our government seems to be doing is banging the ISIS war drum and putting fear into the hearts of the sheeple. Our metadata retention laws passed a couple of months back, with rationale for their necessity embedded in the need to protect everyone from ISIS...

The fact that NSA gave up on restricting cipher export in the 90s has always led me to believe that most forms of modern cryptography have been compromised. That's my tinfoil hat theory at least.

I think their giving up had more to do with the futility of trying to restrict cipher export, I mean PGPi got around it by printing code into books, then sending the books overseas, then OCR'ing it.

Yeah I remember reading about that. Basically invoking 2nd amendment protection.
EDIT: 1st Amendment, sorry I completely forgot 4th grade.

It is all about pumping up the budget.

And the pattern continues.

Not really new. The powers that be have been using "the terrorists" as reason for every BS thing they do since Sept 11. Same old tired shit.

I don't get your objection to posting this. This is a new story. Activities are occurring now as in today about this.

Ah you misunderstand. I'm not objecting to your posting. I'm objecting to the continued use of a boogeyman by gov't agencies. That's all.

I don't think monkeytoe is objecting, seems more like an observation of the times to me.
