I like to think their demise began when they tried to present Dzhokhar Tsarnaev as some sort of dreamy pop star icon & their fate was further sealed when they showed a complete lack of ethics when they published their UVA rape story. Good riddance to bad rubbish.

I think it really began with the "A Rape on Campus" hit piece, which turned out to be a complete hoax. It didn't help that the writer, Sabrina Erdely, doubled down when it was becoming increasingly clear that they had published libelous, life-ruining horseshit.

I came to make sure Sabrina Rubin Erdely ( / ) was mentioned by name.

Erdely's Rolling Stone story "A Rape on Campus" was named by Columbia Journalism Review as "the Worst Journalism of 2014" and as "Error of the Year" by the Poynter Institute.

the jury concluded that Erdely was responsible for defamation with actual malice. The jury’s finding means that it concluded Erdely knew statements about Eramo in the article were false — or had reason to doubt them and failed to investigate further — but published them anyway.

Both a spokesman for publisher Wenner and Will Dana, managing editor, said that Erdely would continue to write articles for Rolling Stone.

Hahaha! Great news for any investor!

Remember when Rolling Stone was the type of magazine who had people like Hunter S. Thompson as writers? Yeah, me neither. I wasn't alive back then; they've been shit for decades.

I used to read it in the late 80s. It was still about the music back then. Jumped ship once SPIN came around & it's been a largely irrelevant rag since then. Then again so is all legacy media.

I was, I was more doe eyed and liberal then. Since you missed out, here. PS the rolling stone has been shit going back to 93.

Here's your typical Hunter S Thompson story:
