That's why you don't let kids decide their lives. IMO this was a case of child abuse.

If a 12-year-old says "I want to do heroin", you don't support that decision and go along with it. This is the same thing. Child abuse isn't just not beating your child senseless, it is about keeping your child on the right path and preventing them from making life altering decisions that could have catastrophic consequences while they are still so young. Allow them to become adults (i.e. go through puberty), then let them make their own choices.

Child abuse according to Wikipedia: Child abuse or child maltreatment is physical, sexual, or psychological maltreatment or neglect of a child or children, especially by a parent or other caregiver.

This is obviously maltreatment in my eyes even if it wasn't malicious. Maybe there was also some psychological maltreatment to push the boy to this, but we don't know.

Tangential rant: we drug our kids way too fucking much with shit they tell us is fine. ADHD drugs should also be child abuse but that is a whole different conversation. I think basically any drugs other than minor pain relievers and immunizations should not be given to children (with the exception of things like cancer patients and very serious illnesses). Billy acting out in class isn't a reason to sedate him. Billy not feeling like he fits in isn't a reason to pump him full of estrogen.

No, you're right. She didn't hit him. He would heal from that. She only encouraged him in his ignorance to change his life in an irreparable way. She may as well have fed him a steady stream of highly addictive drugs. Like hormone blockers for example. Far worse than any spanking.

Ya, that would have left a temporary bruise. This will effect his entire life physically, mentally, and emotionally.
