Ghost of Gaddafi giving us one last hand. Bless that man and his high regard for Westerners in spite of their ignorance.

It occurred to me, the sole political motive for destroying Libya, was to create a European refugee crisis.

Libya Says It Will Shoot Refugee Rescue Boats on Sight

'Over the weekend, three of the eight major nongovernmental organizations with migrant rescue operations announced they would suspend their search and rescue operations out of fear the Libyan coast guard would shoot at them. '

'In exchange for stopping the flow of smugglers’ boats, Libya has been promised a series of rewards, from investments in infrastructure to basic credibility for its fragile officially recognized government. '

'The Italian Maritime Rescue Coordination Center in Rome, which coordinates all distress calls and rescues in the Mediterranean, warned the rescue boats of “increased security risks” at the hands of the Libyan navy. '

'In early August, Italy sent two warships to aid the Libyan coast guard in stopping the migrant boats. '

'In May, Italy gave the Libyan coast guard four repaired patrol boats and helped train their crews for search and rescue missions. '

This has been an automated message.

Not surprising considering human trafficking is a goldmine for terrorism. But like any failed state, i can see this becoming a smuggling haven for sympathizers in Libyas coast guard to make some quick cash

In exchange for stopping the flow of smugglers’ boats, Libya has been promised a series of rewards, from investments in infrastructure to basic credibility for its fragile officially recognized government.

So, the post-Gaddafi Lybian government finally found a way to extort money out of Mediterranean countries. Stopping the migrant flow is a great thing for Europe, but it will cost them perpetual "protection tributes" to the Barbary States. They've been pirates since the 16th century and this is the modern model.

Just take the money and station enough destroyers around the Mediterranean and Europe can shoot them themselves for half the cost.

Why was the idea of Safe Zones (in their country of origin) never realized or even fully explored? I guess changing the narrative from "Migrants" to "Refugees" was an easier sell.

Sen. McCain backed the idea (2013) which means we'll never know the whole story.

The new measures prompted Doctors Without Borders, Save the Children, and German Sea Eye to at least temporarily ground their rescue vessels.

These non-profits were lauded as the most reputable on reddit after red cross was found embezzling funds, now it looks like that was a paid advertisement by soros and his clique
