But it would not be revenge, it is to avenge their son. Not a small distinction either:

To avenge is to punish a wrongdoing with the intent of seeing justice done.

Revenge is more personal, less concerned with justice and more about retaliation by inflicting harm.

Agreed. If I had other kids who were still not adults I would have to postpone an act that would jail me and therefore do damage to my other children. But there would come a day. Even if I had to quietly get myself locked up in the same prison. There would come a day when I would stand over them and watch the life leave their eyes.
