Same here. My team has had two 6 figure tech jobs open for more than 3 years now. I haven't had an interviewee in over a year who could explain the OSI model for me in an intellectual manner (not just from memory).
Millennials are making me worth more everyday. It's insane.
I mean i wouldnt be able to explain the whole thing by heart, but can still understand why its used, and why its needed. Nevertheless, i do find it weird that hiring managers are so eager to hire me. I dont do anything particularly special during interviews, i answer the answers as best i can, i explain when i dont know an answer either because i dont recall/have not touched the scope of that question, and i treat the whole thing as i would a formal dinner. On top of that i dont have a degree. I consider myself an average engineer, but its insane how much basic courtesy has gone the way of the dodo, since I'm praised for having it
