I've never seen a slot machine award more than $100k, including progressive jackpots, outside of the special room with $5+ slots. Even the progressive slots take forever to really get anywhere. They barely go up faster than $.01 a second.
Its pretty easy to believe that it was a malfunction, especially when you see how close her winnings($42,949,672.76) are to the maximum value of an unsigned int(4,294,967,295).

Good point about the unsigned integer! The jackpot amount is posted and shown increasing as the gaming progresses in any casino I have been to: sample http://gamblethenwin.com/first-interstate-progressive-jackpot-by-igt/ If the amount on her screen is different from the posted amount then a malfunction may be said to occur. Do we know if that happened? If you do please send me a link.
