Why? They track you, too.

EDIT: Hold on. Did they stop? Until VERY recently they'd "remember" previous searches unless you cleared their cookies. It was signified by an arrow so you'd see your previous search result.

ITT people think a cookie set on your machine to remember previous searches "tracks" you.

That's not tracking you. Those cookies are local and last only as long as you want them to. They're not anything duckduckgo keeps. It's why their search engine is weak, they don't keep data on who has searched for what on their servers and incorporate it into their rankings like the most of the other search engines do.
