Very bad PR move. I bet they never thought that this one would go viral.

the money lost from overbooking, pales in comparison to the brand damage.

Nothing matters more than taxpayer bailouts for this, "too big to fail," company.

That doctor pays, no matter if he books a flight or not.

UA

had a brand image

If it's old and unattentive union flight attendant hags and sardine-like flight experience, then they definitely nailed it!

What people don't realize is the drive is only 4 hours away. If only they drove their employees to Louisville.... instead of thinking only flight was possible.

[–] MrPim 2 points 32 points (+34|-2) ago

Passengers need to realize this. A four hour drive isnt that bad. You dont have to deal w security theater to begin w. You can stock the car w any food you like. Choose a route that isnt highway hell traffic.

Unless i need to cross a large body of water or itll take more than a day to drive, i drive. And i might even do a multi day drive. Fuck the airlines and what theyvd turned flying into. Fucking cattle cars in the sky.

This is what I wanted to know. He was already seated. So they chose someone at random to pull of the plane to seat someone WHO WAS NOT THERE.

[–] MBB 0 points 20 points (+20|-0) ago

Can almost guarantee you're right. Was probably a few Pilots that needed to be on that plane in order to make a flight for another. All airlines have to shuffle pilots and crew around all the time. You'd think they would leave a few seats unbooked on every flight. There are always stand-bye passengers waiting for extra seats anyway.

0

[–] Tancred 0 points 15 points (+15|-0) ago

There's no extra seat in the cockpit where he can chat with his buddies?

You know he will. If the fuckers offered enough money to bail, someone would eventually have taken it. They fuck up, they need to pay for the mistake. If I were him I wouldn't settle. Take it to court and drag this fucking business through the mud. Unless it's work related where I have no choice, I WILL NEVER fly United again. Fuck this fascist corporation.

Boarded, Removed, delay more than 2 hours, you get 400% of one-way ticket. Tickets running about $200, so $800 is minimum they have to offer.

I have seen other airlines offer $1000 before, but again, that may have been 400% of a $250 one-way fare.

They should just throw the employees in the cargo hold.

Good, I hope this PR nightmare ruins them. United is the worst, staffed by some of the rudest people I've ever had the displeasure of interacting with. I stopped flying with them a couple years ago after a terrible experience (although nowhere near as awful as this). Paying more money to avoid having to suffer through them is totally worth it.

[–] theysayso 0 points 15 points (+15|-0) ago

Same. I stopped using United years ago. I routinely fly 100,000+ a year, but not one mile on them.

American isn't much better, I wanted to change a departure for a flight I had booked that was still 5 months away and they wanted to charge more more to change the day of that one flight than the entire round trip cost. On top of that, I was told if I just flew out on another airline my return flight would be cancelled!

[–] waritah 0 points 9 points (+9|-0) ago

United does the exact same thing. Fly southwest, no change fees and free luggage.

If you are on a United flight, pray your crew is full of Ex-Cons. Although, after 5+ years of being under the United thumb, even they may have been infected with the "fuckit" Chicago attitude or had all the life sucked out of their souls by management, and it may not matter anymore.

Theres a supplemental vid where he somehow makes it back on the plane before take off saying "i need to get home i need to get home" while hes hurriedly going down the aisle to the back. The fuck!!! He looked like a zombie! Probably had a concussion after super flight-attendant dropped him on the handrail across the aisle. jusf such a fucked situation. And why did the doctor scream like he did when they grabbed him? Weird video but i dun like it :(

I figured out why he screamed Ike that.... https://mobile.twitter.com/JayseDavid/status/851223662976004096 they pulled his body until he involuntarily came out from under that handrail... that surely did not feel good... what the fuck are these cops doing.... shitty fucking cops.... throw the books at them... why would a cop think removing a person in this way is acceptable? So fucked....

Concussion is a big thing, can take time for effects to fully show up. There's no way they'll let a doctor who has that happen to them practice until they get cleared. That's assuming people involved in that descision don't play it safe and decide he should be retiring / moving to a lower liability situation. Dude could be losing out on a ton of income from this and would likely get a shitload of money if he sues (and he should).

[–] Gorillion 0 points 12 points (+12|-0) ago

Have had concussion. You lock onto what basic knowledge is within your grasp. Like "I need to be somewhere". Everything else is a blank. The earlier part of the day is like trying to remember a dream.

There's another video of him post-concussion where he starts saying either "Just kill me" or "They kill me" over and over while bleeding everywhere. The hapless UA and airport employees just tell him to "calm down" over and over as if he were in control of his reactions. Dude was clearly out of it and physically in shock.

Yeah, and these flights are often booked or at least need to be approved by a corporate travel agent, so one cannot boycott a specific airline

0
0

[–] Sosacms 0 points 0 points (+0|-0) ago

Aye. It really sucks when boycott isn't an option.

On the end it's pointless to boycott anyway. If the airports lose too much business they will just get a bail out against the tax payers wishes rather than re-evaluate their failed TSA.
