IT IS A FUCKING PLANT THAT GROWS IN THE EARTH! How ridiculous is that for it to be regulated in this way?

Indeed. Let the states decide. Contact your rep. to make sure the President keeps his word!

All states should have medical whether they want it or not. It's cruel not to as some people need it to survive. I'd rather rec be nationwide but that should be put to a vote. I'd just vote yes.

Legalize it 100% with zero regulations on the federal level.

Then, if states want to fuck themselves by criminalizing it, let them.

My favorite part of this article is where it is stated that some legislators have introduced legislation to remove marijuana from Schedule I. That's the weird thing about pot: it's not technically illegal in the sense that there is no law explicitly banning it. The law prohibits any substance on Schedule I from being legalized. Before pot was on the Schedule, the government passed a law that said no one could sell or buy it without a government stamp; the government then refused to issue any stamps. If pot is removed from Schedule I, that old stamp law could be invoked to keep it illegal.

I also love how the opponent, who was quoted far more extensively than any supporters, says that legalization efforts would only benefit a small minority of people who want to make money off it. He apparently forgets how the private prison lobby is one of the biggest opponents of legal weed because it would keep THEM from making money off it. "No, we can't let the growers and sellers get rich; that's OUR job!"

i don't smoke it but I agree, it would help solve the prison problem and the mexico problem.. can you imagine all the drug cartels all having to get regular jobs.. Oh wait, they can still kidnap people..

I don't smoke but I've seen how helpful products like CBD are. CBD oil has none of the psychoactive properties of weed, yet is a schedule 1 narcotic. It fucks you up about as much as a multivitamin.

Wouldn't even come close to the bank they make off of weed. Something like 1/3 of their revenue comes from the sticky icky. Imagine a world where the cartels have 1/3 less guns, have killed 1/3 less people, have gotten 1/3 less Americans addicted to harder drugs.

Medical states are starting to destroy the Cartels' hold on the U.S. weed market. Brick weed is really only something you see in the borderstates, and Florida, now.

Federal sales tax on weed, all proceeds goes to paying off the national debt. We'll smoke our way out of debt.

The biggest cash crop since cotton would pay off the deficit in no time.

We're not getting out of debt until something is done with the Federal Reserve.

It's not growers and dealers it's farmers and healers. Stop the madness and legalize it. Recreational shouldn't replace medicinal like in Washington where they hiked the taxes up from 29% to 37% forcing all medicinal shops to shut down.

all drugs should be legal.

We need recreational heroin.

Or maybe just decriminalize up to reasonable amounts.

or just decriminalize it after the age at which you are supposed to be able to act responsibly.
