In a brief address delivered to law enforcement personnel in Richmond, Virginia on Wednesday, Attorney General and maybe-perjurer Jeff Sessions spent most of his allotted time discussing the same talking points he's been recycling since his appointment: Police brutality is a social media-driven myth; America is a hellish, crime-ridden, post-apocalyptic wasteland; and scary, scary drugs will come into your home and kill you in your sleep unless you pray to your bedside portrait of Ronald Reagan.

With this being the opening paragraph, you pretty well know the reader is being feed shit, lies, or half truths.

Except for the fact that this does seem to be the way Sessions views the world.

In the actual quote from the speech he indicates that he thinks Weed is about as bad as Heroin. Does any rational person really believe that? I personally don't think weed is even as bad as alcohol. Alcohol has ruined a lot more lives and killed a lot more people than weed has, yet you can go down to the corner store and buy a case of it.

Well, for one, there's no quote from Sessions indicating what, if anything, he's actually going to do. The media has been claiming for weeks that some sort of "crackdown" is coming and legal recreational marijuana will be targeted by the feds. I remain skeptical that any such crackdown is actually coming.

Sessions is the A.G. of the U.S. , his job is to uphold federal law. Regardless if we like it or not cannabis is still illegal at the federal level. We need to continue to work at local levels to put leverage on the legislative branch if we want it to change.

In the end, it is his job to follow federal law. I think the onus should be shifted from those who are to enforce the laws to the congress who can make or amend laws. If the laws changed, sessions would then be saying "well, although I am completely against it for x,y,z, the law says it is legal"

You can make moral cases for civil disobedience or a law enforcement officer not enforcing the law but we could use the same case of morality to push our law makers to change the laws that we the people do not feel are just or in line with reality.

Would you rather alcohol still be illegal federally but we simply drink it and the government turns its back and enforces the law when it chooses? At some point the law must be changed so rather than fighting battles of federalism why not just take away the power from the federal government in this matter?

"“He told me he would have some respect for states' right on these things. And so I’ll be very unhappy if the federal government decides to go into Colorado and Washington and all of these places. And that’s not the [what] my interpretation of my conversation with him was. That this wasn’t his intention," said Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.). in an interview."

I'll dismiss any source that openly declares itself in opposition to the president.
