a policy some lawmakers say is a relic of the decades-old AIDS scare that unfairly punishes HIV-positive people based on outdated science.
Outdated science? Last I heard if you get HIV, within 10 years you're on a constant regimen of expensive drugs with horrible side effects, and even if you keep up with it, you still have a pretty good chance of dying to an opportunistic illness. I know someone on anti-retroviral therapy; he has constant diarrhea because of the side effects of the pills, can't eat certain foods, and needs to be worried every time anyone gets the flu -- not to mention the crippling debt. AIDS will fuck up your life big time and while it might not be the same death sentence (in America, and assuming you have money) that it was 20 years ago that doesn't mean it's like sneezing in someone's dinner.

The linked article that doesn't sound like it was written by someone with an agenda. This is horrible and fucked up enough; you don't need to link to ultra-biased sources.
