That is a great question.

A lot of people in the oil industry do not want to see that pipeline built. Canada imports a lot of oil into the US, and that makes opec very nervous.

George Soros doesn't want this pipe line because it hurts his rail business for hauling mile long oil trains through your small town. He's funding a major part of this bullshit.

There are thousands of pipelines across this country, so the only reason i can think he would chose this one, is because of the politics.

The irony is that it seems to be backfiring. First off the "war for oil narrative" has made domestic oil much stronger in the public eye. People are asking why they did not protest Iraq, but are protesting this.

The other thing about this is it fucks with the obama jobs narrative. They clearly don't have jobs, if they did, they would not have the time to protest. So they are either jobless hippies, or paid protesters.

Gabe newell, the president of valve, had a very important quote that i feel sums up the 21st century: "Don't ever, ever try to lie to the internet - because they will catch you. They will de-construct your spin. They will remember everything you ever say for eternity"

the old people have not figured this out.
