Which begs the question, if the "media" is the enemy, what does that make its corporate owners?

War profiteers. It makes them war profiteers.

it's like the zionists controlling 5/6 msm conglomerates did this massive goalpost movement where all of a sudden outright lies, actually faked news, propaganda, libel, etc....suddenly became speech without consequences lol.

but you get punched in the face for saying you like the fat orange fuck.

The U.S. is the host and Israel is the parasite.

They need us so direly that they have no other choice than to own the media to brainwash us into giving them money

I would like to remind everyone that this media consolidation is the direct result of DEREGULATION!

When I was a kid in the 70s and 80s, it was illegal for a single entity to own more than one media outlet in a given market. You could own only one newspaper, only one radio station, and only one TV station. This law was meant specifically to foster competition and prevent information from being consolidated. The law was repealed under Bush I. It was repealed due to an ideological resistance to REGULATIONS. The banks got deregulated around the same time, and we ended up with the Great Recession. All of this was on the heels of the billion-dollar taxpayer-funded savings and loan bailout, also the result of deregulation.

Now we have a President who is even more in favor of deregulation, and all the mewling sycophants are praising him for it. Can we please get a clue?

We don't want to end all regulations, we want to end inefficient regulations. There's a big difference, and you're being disingenuous by not making that crucial distinction.

Trump himself is very adamant about this, always pointing out that yes indeed regulations are a necessary part of a healthy society, environment and economy but they don't need to be so heavy handed or obtuse.

Who got rid of the rules regarding monopolies? Was it one administration or several? I seem to remember Clinton having a lot to do with some of that.

Started with Nixon, carried on with Reagan, then Bush I, then Clinton, the Bush II electric boogaloo, and Obama. I expect Oompa Loompa to continue the trend, well for industries he's close with.

In September 2002, the FCC issued a Notice of Proposed Rulemaking stating that the Commission would re-evaluate its media ownership rules pursuant to the obligation specified in the Telecommunications Act of 1996.[9][18] In June 2003, after its deliberations which included a single public hearing and the review of nearly two-million pieces of correspondence from the public opposing further relaxation of the ownership rules[19] the FCC voted 3-2 to repeal the newspaper/broadcast cross-ownership ban and to make changes to or repeal a number of its other ownership rules as well.

Remember when Saint Obama tried to bring back regulations by reinstating the Fairness Doctrine and enforcing it only on conservative leaning sources of media, IE talk radio? That's what regulation gets you: Left wing despots bringing an end to opposition.

[–] Echo59 1 points 1 points (+2|-1) ago

And what is Trump now trying to bring an end to opposition?

It is fair to bring up the wrongs from all sides, but looking into only one side will bring us no good. Democrats and Republicans have both been inching in their mission to dismantle democracy. Trump is now ramming against it.

mainstream media will eventually be phased out because their ratings are getting shit on. as soon as it's no longer profitable to be propaganda machines they'll change their tune or get the boot. it comes in waves. of course if the gov't is there to prop up failing media then might as well call ourselves communists

Hell yes it is! I've been saying the media is your enemy for a while now! They want to lie, manipulate and try to make you believe things you shouldn't believe (like having ISIS in our homeland is perfectly fine, domestic terrorism is peaceful as long as they are leftists and that we should have elected the most corrupt candidate in US history). THE MSM IS YOUR ENEMY.
