This is an over simplistic understanding of foreign relations.

The United States of America has the strongest armed forces that have ever existed--that is for a reason.

That reason is not because we have more enemies than any country that has ever been, but because the US treats its armed forces like an export; something that can be leveraged in negotiations.

By threatening to withdraw support, President Trump gives the other nations incentive to build up their armed forces and reduce their long-term dependence on the US for military aid.

In the short term, America will save a few dollars. In the long term, America will lose its leverage.

So you are arguing for an increased military industrial complex, all around the world?

Besides, the Europeans already got together and agreed to increase their military spending. We gain nothing further from Trump's continued buffoonery.

I'd like to think there is some type of rational thought process going on, but the more Trump talks, the less likely that appears.
