It was pretty good at first, then got pretty stupid. Everyone knows Kwanzaa was created as an alternate celebration to Christmass because Christmas was seen as a white holiday. It's great to poke fun at that, and bring up the hypocrisy of it etc. But it gets pretty stupid when you start arguing that Africans are lunar people because the sun is too hot. Then you become stupider than Kwanzaa.

In the video Lana is using Yule, the winter solstice holiday, as a foundation for analysis. Hence the sun reference. But you are right. She probably does take 'the solar year' idea a tad too far in what you describe.

Africa's Negro populations have the same relationship with the moon as lemurs do -- they know it is in the sky occasionally, and sometimes they may look up and marvel at the light it provides that particular night.

I know of no calendar conceived of in sub Saharan Africa.
