Can you imagine her mind that she actually believes this? Her reality is so far askew and vastly different from the norm it's amazing. It must be like wearing an occulus rift where the game has everyone trying to rape you all the time.

Echo Chambers, its essentially its own form of indoctrination but applied by everyone in that community.

You also have to remember that she comes from an academic era which includes programs like "Women's Studies;" this is a case of philosophy, opinion and ideology being treated with the same respect for accuracy and authority as any other course in a university. The students of these programs therefore treat these fringe ideas as truth because why would their university lie to them? Why would their professors indoctrinate them?

That's the big problem with these new feminists. They managed to BS themselves so that they literally cannot believe or entertain the possibility of being wrong, because they have a DEGREE in BS.

Thank everyone who believes in the concept of 'tenure.' It's essentially a means for ivory tower academics to push their agendas while their union ensures that they face NO consequences whatsoever.

It's almost as if she wants everyone in the world to share her delusion, and they are wrong an evil if they don't. That seems to be a theme among fanatics.

More than evil. Not even human if they don't.

You have to dehumanize people in order to treat them as nonhumans. Terrible.

Kyle: You know what, Cartman? I believe you.

Cartman: You do?

Kyle: Yes, I believe that you believe you helped write that joke. That's how people like you work! Your ego is so out of whack that it will do whatever it can to protect itself. And people with a messed up ego can do these mental gymnastics to convince themselves they're awesome, when really, they're just douchebags!

some people no matter what facts you throw at them they will always come to their own conclusion.

I attended community college years ago and there was a feminism class there that taught this tumblr-esque crap.

Yeah, people like to claim that the crazy feminism is just on tumblr. It's not - they all learned it in college.

[–] Crom 3 points 7 points (+10|-3) ago

That's not really fair though. This is a woman who is teaching at a community college, where the requirements for teaching are less stringent, and the standards of research to which faculty are held are very relaxed.

Just keep in mind that there are over 8,000 institutions of higher education in the US. And there are several feminist scholars at every one of them. But they don't make the news with 'Feminist professor writes level-headed academic paper on the female dynamic in the royal families of the Tudor era in England.' Or, 'Feminist professor attends university function and doesn't get offended by conversation that includes sexual innuendo.'

I've said it before here, and it bears repeating ,that I have good friends that are feminist scholars and they're more comfortable talking sexuality and making dick jokes than anyone else I know. It's not all man hating and agenda driven. Unfortunately, that's all that makes the news and social media.

Quit defending it. This IS academic feminism. It's no better at the 'prestigious' 4-year universities. Feminism jumped the shark years ago and went from a needed rights movement to a revenge movement.

I think we need a new term then. We have feminist like you describe, that I would consider myself part of. Then we have these other feminists, who make it so I won't even use the term to describe myself.

I have acquaintances that are "professional" feminists that will make and laugh at all the crude jokes that you can think of, then outside of the event will rail against men, white people, etc. Their social media is a steady stream of Jezebel and similar sites.

I'm not sure they even know which is their real face and which is the mask.

Instead of conversing in any sensible argument, they try to dehumanize and demoralize their enemies - the same type pf propaganda that's been used to rile countries to war. It's a sad and dangerous development.

0

[–] refugee610 0 points 7 points (+7|-0) ago

That's because to these people it is a war. They are fighting for supremacy over men.

It's so stupid. There has never been a matriarchal Human society

Most anthropologists hold that there are no known societies that are unambiguously matriarchal

There's a reason for that. Men are bigger, stronger, and faster. So much so that we separate men and women for sporting events.

You can't create the world's first Matriarchal society by being triggered on twitter.

There is a war, its a cold war, but make no mistake- there definitely is a war.

However, the war is much bigger than between men vs. women, men vs. men, women vs. women or even between different races. The larger war is between the middle class and the ultra-rich elites. Rad fems and other "rights" movements are merely proxies for the elite- who would never actually give any of these proxies true equality if they were to win the war.

All these SJWs who get media coverage like they have legitimate positions are nothing more than proxy battles of the bigger Cold War. These proxy battles are meant to either divide and conquer the middle class or keep the middle class pre-occupied with trivialities and fear mongering among themselves, instead of revolting and hunting down the so-called elites. Only the middle class has the organizational and logistic power to hunt down and destroy the elites and as long as they are battling with themselves over so called "justice" or fighting directly against the poor (like in Fergusen), then they are not hunting the elites. The rich have fucked up and think they can keep this shit up and not have this cold war turn into either a full blown revolution or mutually assured destruction where rich, middle, and poor all die together.

[–] Abe_Lincoln 0 points 10 points (+10|-0) ago

Definitely agree. Top story on /v/news is from "socawlege" about something a feminist said. Do people realize Voat isn't going to grow if all it is is people jerking about feminists and fat people? Obviously a lot of us came here because of reddit pushing feminism on us or deleting FPH, but that can't be what this site is about or it simply won't grow. There are plenty of gender subreddits for this, it shouldn't be posted here.

/v/news has been flooded with this stuff lately and it's cringeworthy, honestly. I'm all for equal rights and promoting men where its necessary, but this is not the subverse for it.

Rape culture exists in places like India, Pakistan, much of Africa and so on. Not in Western society.

Pakistan, definitely (almost all the gang rapes in the UK are performed by groups of Pakis). India, no. http://www.spiked-online.com/newsite/article/indias-rape-epidemic-an-ugly-colonial-myth-reborn/16781

Saying there is "Rape culture" in India is just ignorant. There are more rape cases reported in the US than in India. Rape cases in India gets lot of media coverage, home and abroad and that is what gives a perspective of rape culture in India. We are taught to respect girls. Infact, where I am from, even teasing girls can get you in trouble. Girls are really protected and respected here apart from some ignorant fools.

[–] Mr_Sir 0 points 10 points (+10|-0) ago

Perhaps, I'm being ignorant about India. However, isn't the media doing the same thing in the U.S., Canada, and the U.K.? Pushing the idea of rape culture, when one doesn't exist.

[–] Hypnos 0 points 0 points (+0|-0) ago

I forget where I read this, but I'll assume it was on Reddit about a year or so ago. It was written by a girl who claimed to be from India, and she stated that typically whenever she or her friends went in crowded spaces, they were groped and that rape was something that was a very frequent occurrence, however it was scarcely reported due to families being embarrassed and ashamed as well as a corrupt police and an inefficient legal system which would make it pointless. Is there any truth to this?

UPDATE: Kirkham has claimed on Twitter that she no longer works at Humber College, specifically that she left in May. She has also claimed that she will be employed somewhere in the U.K. going forward. We are unable to verify either of these claims for the time being. If we find out more, we will update the article further.

So... Unemployed? Discredited? No one want to hire you in the states?

[–] SpaceLizard 0 points 2 points (+2|-0) ago  (edited ago)

News

  • new information or a report about something that has happened recently Check

  • information that is reported in a newspaper, magazine, television news program, etc. Check

  • someone or something that is exciting and in the news Check

Looks like it's news.
