Crenshanda Williams, 43, has been charged with interference with an emergency telephone call, which is a misdemeanor.

this doesn't seem right. it's trivial to imagine a situation in which this results in death of one or more people. that's felonious negligence.

I honestly think it should be chalked up to attempted manslaughter or something like that.

this is what my intuition is telling me. if she wasn't this blatantly negligent, someone might not have died.

Here's the section defining "criminal negligence" in Texas law::

Sec. 6.03. DEFINITIONS OF CULPABLE MENTAL STATES. (a) A person acts intentionally, or with intent, with respect to the nature of his conduct or to a result of his conduct when it is his conscious objective or desire to engage in the conduct or cause the result.

(b) A person acts knowingly, or with knowledge, with respect to the nature of his conduct or to circumstances surrounding his conduct when he is aware of the nature of his conduct or that the circumstances exist. A person acts knowingly, or with knowledge, with respect to a result of his conduct when he is aware that his conduct is reasonably certain to cause the result.

(c) A person acts recklessly, or is reckless, with respect to circumstances surrounding his conduct or the result of his conduct when he is aware of but consciously disregards a substantial and unjustifiable risk that the circumstances exist or the result will occur. The risk must be of such a nature and degree that its disregard constitutes a gross deviation from the standard of care that an ordinary person would exercise under all the circumstances as viewed from the actor's standpoint.

(d) A person acts with criminal negligence, or is criminally negligent, with respect to circumstances surrounding his conduct or the result of his conduct when he ought to be aware of a substantial and unjustifiable risk that the circumstances exist or the result will occur. The risk must be of such a nature and degree that the failure to perceive it constitutes a gross deviation from the standard of care that an ordinary person would exercise under all the circumstances as viewed from the actor's standpoint.

(c) gets you manslaughter, (d) gets you criminally negligent homicide(there's no depraved heart murder statute in Texas). Given the opening lines of the article, I can't help but feel she got a plea bargain despite the slam-dunk case.

I'm not a lawyer, though, so there might be some relevant case law I'm not aware of that explains everything.

“They just said, ‘This is 911. How can I help you?’ I was trying to finish my sentence, and we got disconnected,” Li said.

Police said that Williams was the 911 operator, and that she terminated the call within a few seconds.

Li called a second time and got a different operator. By the time police arrived, however, the store manager had been shot and killed.

How much you want to bet this fucking google cunt hung up on people who didn't sound black?

I bet there's a recurring pattern here. In any case, this fucking bitch should be tried for premeditated murder for hanging up on someone who needed help -- but died.
