I suppose it is good that she resigned because she lied about her ethnicity. But my bigger question is what is the big deal? According to the NAACP rules, the leader of the NAACP does not have to be black. She could have been the leader despite being white.

She wanted an advantage she got by portraying herself as black. That's pretty immoral.

What advantage did she get? I am genuinely curious. I haven't followed the story that closely.

She also said she lived in a teepee and hunted for food with bows and arrows. Sorry for the breitbart link, it's just the most concise, I read elsewhere that her parents in fact did that but before she was born

She's a outrageous liar using other people's lives to gain advantage, that's the big deal in my opinion.

Wait, I thought being non-white was a disadvantage. How did she get an advantage?

So an organization dedicated to the advancement of black people is getting rid of someone who thought it was better to be black than white?

She forged a bunch of racist letters, dropped them in the NAACP post office box, and called the cops. That's considerably worse than pretending to be black.

It's so frustrating that this element of the story is not focused on more.

Care to drop a source on this one? The most I can find is an article that is also unsourced and from Buzzfeed, so you know, grain of salt.

I didn't know about this part of the story. This is more damning than pretending to be black - like you said.

It's more about being a fraud and a liar, not if she is black or white.

I think it's more that she lied about her backstory and then bullied family members to support it. That is highly manipulative behavior that illustrates she is lacking good judgement. She also falsified police reports. That's a very dangerous situation for someone with community power. You need to have a baseline respect and trustworthiness in your community leaders, especially if their platform is to restore justice.

Really amazed she did not double down on the crazy like most SJWs do.

Give her time.. the statement she put out did not have any contrition in it from my reading. In fact, if I had to put money on it I'd bet that the NAACP forced her hand somehow and we'll see crazy rear it's head yet. Oh, and then there's her University gig and the scholarships she rode through her masters level education.

Good point. It's highly likely that the NAACP bigwigs got rid of her because they didn't need further drama.

I actually thought the resignation sounded like it comes from the legal department of NAACP. No admission, no apologies, just a bunch of the NAACP narrative.

Well, that was a short wait. She is doubling down with "I identify as black, and you can't judge how someone identifies!".

It's been four days. And now we're hearing that one of her brothers is up on kid touching charges. So. She's going to play some game about how that means she did nothing wrong. She may eve cry rape.

The one thing I remember from my sociology class was the professor claiming that there was no such thing as race and ethnicity. We then proceeded to spend the entire semester talking about race and ethnicity.

Too bad someone who studied human anatomy wasn't in that class. The remains of people are frequently used to determine race, gender and approximate age of the dead person. It is quite easy to do, if you are trained like that.

Oh, it gets far worse than that. In college, I had to take classes in "mathematics". Just memorizing a bunch of made up, arbitrary rules for things that don't exist!

Proof social Justice warrior types like this have a mental illness. Normal people do not think they are a different race. If so I would like to declare today that I am now asian and I speak for all asians when I say I am now black. The first black asian trans and I am now a peanut. Trans black peanut asians unite! AMA anyone?

The rational response is that they're both crazy, fetishize something that they cannot actually be nor become, do a bunch of mental gymnastics and get a bunch of support from a bunch of sycophants with angles of their own to play, and missed the entire point of the Allegory of the Cave.

Remember, it was her family that ratted her out. Coming for a family like that, we might all want to change our identities. I sort of think what she did was a noble experiment in a way -- all that effort just to find out how black people are treated. We are all individuals. If she could really put it across well enough to get a job with NAACP and actually support the rights of blacks, good on her.

Unfortunately, that does not appear to be all that happened. She apparently made false complaints about threats, and we're still waiting to see if she basically stole a scholarship from a black person. :D

a noble experiment

Sorry. That's hard for me to see, especially given her response to questions, the lies she told repeatedly, her anger, her manipulation of her family to maintain her secret. This may be an outgrowth of the family she comes from, but she's a liar and she lies for her own personal gratification, in my opinion.

why Caitlin Jenner is celebrated for embracing her "inner woman" yet Ms. Dolezal is being castigated over embracing her "inner black"

Because gender is not like race?
