I have asthma, which our mother exacerbated by doing everything the doctors told her not to. If I was on antibiotics, she didn't give me the full course. If he said no cats, she got me three. If he said smoke outside she made me sit next to her as she smoked in the house. If he said no milk, all I got was cereal and milk for food until someone came along and yelled at her for it. If they told her to dress me warm, I got undies and a tee shirt, no shoes in winter. When they told her to keep me inside and away from people due to my immune system being weaker from prednisone, she dropped me off on a stranger's doorstep in the middle of winter and then claimed I "wandered off" when I told them who my mom was... I was 6. My childhood made me religious, because I should be dead.

I'm an adult now. I celebrated when she died as fucked up as that sounds.

The states involved in the children's lives from the article, they will be fine thanks to the state. My sister still loved her after everything, so they may even love their mother too. I saw her systematically destroy my health and my sister's, so I couldn't anymore. I'm good though. I love my sister, she loves me, and we have each other. If the state didn't get involved those children could have ended up dead, for greed. It's disgusting. When my sister was at her worst, because of all the meds, mom suddenly died. It was almost like some super natural being said enough.

My sister is getting married this October and works two full time jobs. She is loving life. I went to college and wrote a couple poem books ...we're both happy and in control of our lives now. These kids will do fine now too.
