I must have missed the part where it said he supports it. It does say he wouldn't use federal power against a state law and states have the right to legalize if they want but doesnt say he personally supports the idea of recreational marijuana.

Isn't that basically what Obama said 8 years ago? That he would stop the DEA from raiding Medical Marijuana dispensaries?

Look, I doubt trump would be worse about the drug war then hillary. But he's stated his wall will also greatly assist the drug war. Which is fucking ludicrous it may curtail illegal immigration. "it may not". A fucking wall is certainly not going to solve Americas drug war problem.

I don't think any republican canidate ever wants to admit Reagan was a fucking idiot. And really if they did it would just lose you whatever election your trying to win in that party.

More accurately, he said he would not use Federal Authority to suppress States Rights. Still, being Pro-Marijuna would be a solid stance for him to take. The Marijuana industry has the potential to make a fuckload of money, which by all accounts is good for the U.S. economy. As trump is an entrepreneur, it would be sensible for him to get in on something that will obviously make him wealthier. Politically, such a stance could help him pull even more voters away from the HillBot.

Also assists in cementing his image as a pro-freedom leader, as many of the independents and liberals I've spoken to are worried he'll be just as authoritarian as Hillary will be.

On a personal level, Trump opposes all intoxication.

On a personal level, I'm opposed to abortions and allowing religious indoctrination in publically funded schools. Doesn't mean I'm all for banning abortions and religion on a federal level. The point of "Freedom" is having the ability to do what you want with your life, so long as what you are doing is not bringing physical harm to another living, breathing human being. If trump doesn't want to smoke a blunt or get drunk, fine, that's his choice. He does not, however have a right to tell me that I can't do these things.

He still needs the votes of the Christian Right, so coming out directly in favor of legal weed would work against his campaign.

yeah, this actually feeds both, christian states rightists, people who don't consider it a big deal, people who are states rights, libertarians. It really was a master stroke

How anyone thinks marijuana is dangerous when alcohol is sold freely is beyond my ability to comprehend.

I function fine on marijuana. I was a complete wreck on alcohol. Same is true for most everyone I know who drinks and smokes pot. Some of them seem OK on alcohol as well as pot. Huge difference.

There's little reason to legalize it outside of morality and intellectual honesty.

You really have to expand on this... Are you really saying that the drug war hasn't been an economic failure of epic proportions?

Premise by which the government can argue for more authority over citizens... That's a bad thing.

He may if he would comet FOR IT like the title suggested but he said it was a state's rights issue, he is neutral on it.

If he said abortion was a state's right issue is that coming out for or against it? NEITHER!

This is how you are 'for legalization' without completely alienating those much further right than you are. He wants the Bernie voter, but must not completely lose the Republican base in the process.

He's essentially given the same stance as Ron and Rand Paul regarding states' rights.

No, it's running the country as it should be run. If it's not in the constitution, leave it alone.

Best comment, I just wish you hadn't said it out loud because say or do anything for a vote Hillary will now add free pot to her platform. (Free being the liberal definition of tax money).

This is what the constitution was all about. Having the states govern themselves instead of the Federal gov imo.

so if the states are to govern themselves then whats the point of the federal government?

Not really an endorsement, he is very much against drug use but believes it is a states rights issue and wasting federal money on this is counter productive. That is the perfect stance. Ive gotten as tires of the "weed is good 4 u" crowd as I have of the reefer madness crowd. However tge fedeal government has no business telling you what you can do with your body
