“It’s disturbing and troubling to see Title IX invoked in this manner,” said Lisa Schwartzman, associate chair and graduate program director of MSU’s philosophy department.

You mean "equally"?

“The Women’s Lounge is the one women-only space on campus.

Yes, it's enforced segregation. It's not even "separate but equal" as there is no men's space.

The claim that its very existence denies men access to an equal education is absurd.”

I'd actually agree, it doesn't really give that much of an advantage or disadvantage, but neither does all the other crap title IX is applied to in practice.

as there is no men's space.

If they did that, then what would they do if it was proven men did better in segregated study? That men, in their segregated groups, actually excelled and started creating new inter-personal networks completely separate from women, that not only extended into the workplace but into political circles too? And just left the girls in the dust...it's almost like there's some kind of systemic fear of what men could do with their lives if women weren't constantly fucking with freedoms and rights (and education)!

There were all of these men's clubs and study groups that led to better tutoring and connections to people who could provide good job opportunities.

You can't prevent old boy's clubs from forming by banning study groups. Besides, the argument here is that women empirically study better surrounded by other women, in which case they should use their room like most students everywhere else.

These people made their bed and now refuse to lie in it. Tough luck snowflakes! Either get rid of gender discrimination entirely or call into question the validity of Title IX, you can't have the cake and eat it too.

A male only study lounge would be useful: imagine that guys, a place where you can work / study without being constantly asked to 'help' female students with their home work (aka do the work for them).

A space for men where they can't be accused of rape.

That went well. A reasonable argument, a rational outcome.

“Thus, we decided on an open lounge for all students, rather than adding a male-only lounge,”

They'd rather not give women a women only space, than give men a male only space. Can't have those guys have some peace and quiet, or have a discussion that isn't supervised by a woman.
