MEN DRIVE REFUGEE FROM SUPER MARKET AND TIE HIM TO TREE
Arnsdorf - On the 21st of May an argument escalated in a "Netto" market in Arnsdorf near Dresden. An Iraqi refugee (21), who is being treated at a Arnsdorf specialized hospital, allegedly has threatened a female employee and the female manager with a bottle of wine.
In reaction to this three unknown men got involved, grabbed the 21-years-old and drove him from the supermarket.
They had marched into the market like a sort of "militia" (vigilantism?) and took "care" of the alleged attacker.
At 1852 the police received a distress call about the incident. When the police arrived, the Iraqui had been bound with cable tie to a tree in the parking lot of the Netto market.
The three men informed the police that they had subdued the Iraqi to protect the employees at the super market. EMTs attended to the 21-years-old and took him back to the hospital.
Before the alleged threatening with the wine bottle, the man had entered the Netto market twice and complained about a bought prepaid phone card that didn't function.
A female employee noticed that the deposit on the card had already been used up. Witnesses tell that the man became furious and threatened the employee with the wine bottle.
The police are investigating against the Iraqi for threatening. Against the three men who subdued the man investigations are undertaken for kidnapping. The police are investigating along with the Staatsschutz [domestic security agency].
The police are looking for witnesses oft he incident. The tip line is 03581/468100.
Update 2040: According to "sz-online" one of the four men is CDU member of town council Detlef Oelsner.
The politician refused to give an official statement to the Sächsische Zeitung [local newspaper].He is only alleged to have said that they had "shown civil courage" and that "the same would have been for every other victim". He added: "Even they hadn't been German".
As "sz-online" reports, the police had visited Oelsner Wednesday. Major Martina Angermann (SPD) allegedly knows the other three men. She will tell the police the names at an appointment in Kamenz.
