The majority of fast food workers are full time, over 25 with a high school education (~30% with some college education). It's not a job for high school kids anymore. It's a job that people who are desperate will take.

I can 100% attest to this. The average age has define try gone up. Alot of older people and people in their 30s. I think it's mainly people who had fairly decent jobs, got laid off, and either settled because they where desperate or struggled in a highly competitive job marke, or both. Not gonna lie, IT seems to be getting a little scary right now because there is a boom, but it's very suceptible to outsourcing and I'm thinking my work experience and degree could mean a not very good job soon, unless I work my way up fast enough.
