And here i thought wanting to physically disfigure and butcher your body to look like the opposite sex was an obvious sign of mental health issues. But those liberal faggots will have you believe otherwise

Eh, there's plenty of scientific evidence that some people are not mentally ill who go through transition. The problem is that it has become part of pop culture as opposed to just being a medical procedure. For instance, I knew a girl who was originally born with male genitals, but not quite, they were ambiguous and the doctors and her parents made the decision to (and this is a common decision in this circumstance because of pragmatism) build a hole instead of a pole. She eventually transitioned into a man later in life, and she never appeared happy as a girl, but as a guy he seemed very unremarkably male. Granted, this is a rare case and nowhere near as common as the problem appears to be today. Pop-culture ruins society again, I guess.

Upvoat for common sense. Transgender people do exist in this world but nature nearly always gives a clear signs when this is the case, they are called hermaphrodites. Thinking you have a fe/male brain when all other parts of your anatomy clearly point to a specific gender is foolish and treating a mental disorder with surgery is abhorrent. I think we'll look back in 50 years and place most (not all) gender reassignment in the same category as using lobotomy as a psychiatric treatment.

I agree Intersex is a special situation

It's insane. If you said you wanted to chop off your arm because you feel like you should only have one arm, you'd be thrown in the psych ward. Say you want to chop your dick off and it's praised because "men are inherently evil".

Calling it a mental health issue or illness isn't a cure or treatment however. Imagine that. It's missing the part where we bulldoze them all into a ditch, or force "medicate" them until they're all doing their best Rose Kennedy. Maybe it's not as easy as applying the most choice labels.

Nobody is saying that calling it a mental illness is the solution. But if we can accept that it stems from mental health issues, we can begin to find a viable solution instead of chopping up people's genitals.
