What is so problematic about being a meritocracy? The best and brightest should be allowed room to grow and prosper. How is giving undeserving people slots at uni just because of the color of their skin any different from a politician giving no-bid contracts to friends, or a nepotistic boss giving the VP position to the 25 yo nephew with no experience?

It just astounds me. If people really want racial equality then shouldn't we also demand that proportionally all major league football and baseball and basketball teams be a quota representation of the general population? I think the NBA needs to fire half of all the black players and replace them with white players, fair is fair! Give me a frikin break already.

I feel bad, it sucks, youre black (or whatever) and poor. Boo fucking hoo. My great grands were poor as dirt too, and worked their assess off to get to America (as in they were not involved with slavery at all), and then struggled to put food on the table, didn't commit crime at all and then put their kids through progressively more education, only by their sacrifices did that happen. No welfare, no drug money, no cigarettes and iphones and disability. Give me a fucking break.

If it makes you feel better, America provides no-compete, sole-source contracts to business owners based on the color of their skin or the lack of testicles hanging between their legs.

Oh wait, that will probably do the opposite of making you feel better.

It doesn't and yes, I used to work in the construction field and saw the companies that were funded by majority shareholders "partner" with minority and female straw men so they got an unfair advantage obtaining state contracts. Bs.

The real question is why we must social engineer in such a way as to reward people based solely on their skin color or gender, instead of their capabilities and work ethic.

Judge people not on the color of their skin, but on the content of their character. MLK said that, and it seems like this nonsense is the exact opposite.

Mine too. I told some black people that over at an african american google plus forum and they said I was still responsible because my ancestors moved to a country that benefited off the slavery. But see, blacks benefited off it too because without it they would be in little huts living off a dollar a day, so technically they are responsible for slavery too with that logic.

Can't remember if it was the UC or CSU system that put out a list of microaggression, but one of the two California schools frowns upon saying that you should hire people based on talent. So I guess meritocracy is problematic in that SJWs know they're talentless hacks, and want to put a racial/gender spin on it.

This doesn't include intellectual diversity, I take it.

Higher education is becoming a form of consumerism. Most of the young people I see borrow big sums of money to get a degree so they feel good about themselves, rather than think of it as a career investment. Many would be better off learning a trade.

Bang on buddy! Went in for medicine, left with a liberal arts degree...why, the science department threw everything at you and if you failed, tough shit. No tutors, no extra work nothing...just get it right or else. It was more like a test everyday instead of being educated. Transfer to liberal arts, my God, tutors galore, one on one time with the professor, extra credit, etc... An idiot could have passed with all the hand holding I saw. I was a great student, straight A's until I tried to go for medical. After that I left college and never went for a more advanced degree.

I'm not sure why UK universities are more negatively affected than US universities which are suffering from the same disease, or if this could just be an excuse for general failing quality.

It is the view of "Alan Smithers, director of the Centre for Education and Employment Research at Buckingham University" but the Telegraph omitted his concerns about immigration restriction from the title (basically we don't discriminate between immigrants so a professor is as welcome as a 3rd world single mother, but we need more professors so we need to let in a million 3rd world single mothers and it's great because we will be enriched and we're wealthy so we can afford it and it's our duty etc!).

I think it's pretty much the same, the difference being that the British universites are older and perhaps a bit more respected. Or rather, they were.

Not surprising, Muslim nations are not known for their universities.

Treating people unfairly because of skin color is supposed to be a good thing?

Only when non-whites do it to whites apparently.

People shouldn't be granted special privileges because of the color of their skin. What happened to 'equality' and 'equal opportunity'?

Liberalism happened. Look at US Social Security. It's a Ponzi Scheme from the liberals.

Diversity is a code word for anti-White. Western Academia has become a bastion of anti-White hatred. The entire system has been poisoned by Socialist Cultural Marxist with the intent on destroying White Hegemony, White Power, and the White Race.
