The irony of the entire quote is completely lost on the author - “some bad apples and temperamental brats abusing their right to an opinion.” Obviously it only applies to people that dislike youtube videos. It couldn't possibly apply to someone like TrigglyPuff.

That's not misogyny.

They replaced the entire crew with self-entitled tumblrina mayo dumpsters.

I think it's disappointment more than anything. I'm not very familiar with 3 of the leads, but imo Kristen Wiig was excellent in Bridesmaids and almost made me piss myself in the coffee shop scene from MacGruber.

To me the hate comes from her potential (and probably the other leads with whom I'm not familiar), the potential of a Ghostbusters sequel/reboot, and a huge budget all wasted by terrible writing/direction if the trailer is any indication. And now they have the nerve to blame it on the actors' GENDER of all things...

It's not the actors fault that their roles were created by shitheads & cockphobists.

What I read:

You should like this reboot because its cast of female comedians are just as talented and popular as the male comedians that played the original cast. If you liked the old movie, you're supposed to like this one just as much... no less. Otherwise, any reason you may dislike it has to be because of the all female cast, and not because it's a reboot, and not a sequel or continuation, of a beloved, classic movie series.

It's obvious to me that someone saw dollar signs rather than a chance to produce quality work.
The director should not be allowed to work on any more hollywood movies, unless the work consists of an original story.

Ghostbusters 2 had the same cast as Ghostbusters 1 and people didn't like it when it came out. Even today it's pretty polarizing among the fans.

2 was made to sell toys.

The first was made out a love of making funny/wacky movies, to make a bit of money in the process, and to get a group of buddies to collect a paycheck in a fun little farce. It had a little bit of a "heh, we don't care" attitude to the writing. Then it got popular, and the sequel was made to cash in on that popularity. Sell toys. Sell the books. Sell the tv series.

This third fart is actually interesting in nature - they took something beloved, swapped gender roles, and are backing the movie up with threats towards patriarchy and bias and racism if you don't like it. Oh, also, they sell toys. And video games. And books. So, you know, go buy that - remember, there's that looming threat out there, you aren't... a woman-hating man-pig, are you?!

...turns out, yes, I am.

The original had a lot of dry, subtle, witty humor. Every trailer I see for the reboot is someone screaming their lines and slapping someone. I'm not interested in the new one because of the shitty directing, not because they're women.

To be fair, those actresses probably hard to try pretty hard to approach the exact same circumstances in different approaches

its like, do these fucking people think trying to shame people out of their "patriarchy" will make them want to watch the movie?

"whats that, you told me i was abhorrent for a trait i have, even though i dont even have it? let me just give you my money then"

If you think those 4 women are not funny that's the same as HATING ALL WOMEN!

Is it possible there was an element of misandry in the decision to replace the original male characters and hire an all-female crew?

"The haters on our trailer were very proud of the fact they had racked up 400,000 dislikes on YouTube versus 200,000 likes,” Feig told the Guardian. “But that’s not a majority by anybody's standards."

It's up to over 600,000 now, and the likes are suspiciously static at just over 200,000 exactly. Methinks they were purchased.

If anything, watch it silently reverse polarity at some point. Slowly, steadily. Slow enough to not garner much attention until "Huh, TIL The newest Ghostbusters Trailer actually Did get more Likes Than Dislikes! Ain't That Sumfin'?!"

I'd put a fiver on it.

>all-star cast

Yeah, okay

Well, they're the "all star" cast of unfunny people on SNL who keep their jobs because of affirmative action. So they're kind of right in a way.
