My buddy Eduardo and I are putting on a weekend at the Nashville Refinery focused on customer discovery. Here's a summary:
Customer Discovery Weekend is a two day workshop held at the Nashville Refinery on September 26th and 27th, organized by the same people who brought Nashville Startup Weekend to the EC back in April.
The first day focuses on how to interview users and potential customers, in order to discover what their real pain points are, and how to better address those with your service, even if it means pivoting your idea radically.
The second day focuses on validating a business idea before building it, with Lean Startup techniques such as smoke test web sites, MVPs, and running paid ads to see if there is visible desire for your planned offering.
Besides the workshops themselves, led by an expert brought in from Detroit, there will be plenty of opportunities for networking and meeting new like-minded individuals, as well as delicious local catering from Noshville and Hattie B's for the lunch breaks.
