I think a lot of those bands were just posted all the time. There is only like 25 band/artists there, and we get it you like Led Zeppelin, you don't have to post Stairway To Heaven because everyone has heard it before. It's just posted a ton and it would get repetitive seeing "Hurt" by NIN all the time. I think that it was a good idea to ban some artists.

I agree those bands were probably posted to excess, but the easy, most obvious solution for a community-moderated site is to let the community moderate, not selectively ban content that is otherwise on-topic for the sub.

Reddit isn't truly community moderated, though. They have algorithms to change the number of upvotes/downvotes a post has. Voat should be able to handle this much better given their straightforward and honest voting system.
