Gotta admit, couldn't deal with the dude's voice when I started hearing AJJ on the regular (gf's a big fan so i'd hear it in the car all the time). This coming from someone who's 100% down with Pavement, Sonic Youth, Girls... so it's not cuz it's "untraditional", it's just so damn shaky. It grew on me after about a month, and his lyrics are solid as hell, although I have to say his song about giving money to homeless people being a pointless empty gesture couldn't be more off the mark.

The skate part that AJJ built is pretty fn cool

When I first listened to it, I loved it because of how shaky it was, it made everything he sang sound really fragile. I think that really packs a punch behind a lot of the lyrics to the songs. Believe it or not it took me longer to warm up to Pat the Bunny's voice when I first started listening to him.

A girl I had a crush on showed me this band on our "date" (I thought it was a date, she didn't), and I couldn't be more thankful because they're one of my favourite bands and a daily listen to for almost a year. I did manage to see them when they came to Toronto with Jeff Rosenstock. It was a magical experience!
