I believe we've discussed this movie on this board before. It sure seems like a piece out of that illuminati card game.
*SPOILERS AHEAD * if any of you want to watch the movie and enjoy the plot as it unfolds stop reading here.
Made in 1997 and set in "the not so distant future" around today... 2015-2020-ish. It's a "dark comedy" with some funny lines, but more of a "Zoom-out, big-picture joke"
In this world the US has taken on immigrants for 25 years and there are new cultural divides in America. California officially speaks spanish and is mostly latino. The deep south is all black muslim. Rhode Island is entirely Chinese. There's a nuclear war between india and pakistan and the US agrees to take in like a million paki refugees. the federal government decides Idaho has plenty of space for them and decides they're going to ship them there.
Idaho gov says fuck off and closes the border. Militias rally and other states start picking sides. Some unexpected alliances are formed and of course it's kiked as fuck (read that cast list) so the overall storyline is really about the media with a sub-plot of love and making interracial babies, but at the zoomed-out level it's a pretty good prediction of the world we're in today and a relatively accurate explanation of how we got here. Leads to some interesting thought-processes as you analyze the alliances which form and of course
If you haven't watched it I really recommend it.
