Teach your children to read.

It helps if they want to learn to read. My mom taught me after I asked her. I was way ahead of the kids when I entered school. I just wanted to know what the road signs read when we were driving :)

But you are correct, parents should teach their children and not leave it up to the indoctrination camp.

They will want to read if you read to them and/or they see you reading. My son got a good head start in math because he wanted to start playing a math game I was into for a while.

It's a very good show, and actually very wholesome too. I wouldn't recommend it to younger than preteen though. One of the characters is nicknamed "bitch-sensei" and used to be a honeypot assassin.

Yeah I should clarify that. I was thinking middle school and above when I said children.

I would highly recommend Kino's Journey - A Beautiful World for that age group too.

Anime with subtitles is what taught my children to read so early

I wish I could learn Japanese but it is so foreign to me. That has always been my desired super-power, to be able to understand & communicate with everyone.

Maybe if I listen to the intro song enough (it shows the Japanese words at the top and the English translation at the bottom) I will learn some.

If I ever have kids, they will watch Looney Tunes, Tom and Jerry, and The Flintstones...just like I did.

Depends on how young.

Detective Conan may be a good option, too if you're not afraid of... uh... exposing your children to literally 1000 corpses appearing throughout the series.

you're baiting me aren't you

AFAIK there isn't anything like that in AC, and I am not familiar with Detective Conan. I just recognize good stuff and want to share it.

I have only watched the first two episodes but it has important life lessons for children written in the story.

If you have only watched 2 episodes then you can't speak about the anime. I enjoyed it but I wouldn't recommend any anime for children as they are quite often dealing with themes not age appropriate.

I'd be comfortable with middle school kids watching this. Then again my parents let me watch anything I wanted to.

I think the rating is PG-13. Middle school is 12-14. I said in another comment I should have clarified "children". I didn't mean young children.

Some parents might think "Family Guy" is wholesome, just from the name and the opening theme. It's not, it's filthy garbage.

Screw that!

Take them outside, teach them about nature, let them learn to work with their hands. We have enough faggots already.
