Fight Club final scene - the explanation:
After the buildings collapse, the narrator is admitted to the psychiatric hospital.
He is being sedated with anti-schizophrenia injections and is sleeping in his room.
A nurse enters, wakes him up and invites to follow her for an interview with the psychiatrist.
The narrator enters the psychiatrist's office, the nurse invites him to sit and join the doctor.
The doctor starts explaining what he was able to understand about the narrator's condition:
After examining your condition by what you were able to tell me, I have a diagnosis and can explain what exactly happened to you. Let's start from the beginning. Your last promiscuous partner hypnotized you during sleep with Kabala, which caused the start of losing your mental sanity. This is because Kabala is a very powerful kind of hypnosis that allows low formatting programming of human brain during sleep. After you were hypnotized, you become unconscious, therefore all your psychological frustrations were able to come up from subconscious.
The conscious mind is what keeps frustrations under control inside subconscious, therefore an unconscious mind lets them completely free to control your mind. You have become a schizophrenic with sado-masochistic tendencies because unable to control your frustrations anymore. Being a beta male, you invented yourself an alpha male alter ego as a projection of your will to fight your harmful frustrations, who was able to commit all the actions you did under the unconscious state of hypnotic trance.
All of the members of your organization were beta males, looking for someone capable of allowing them to quit thinking about their meaningless and valueless lives, and to lead them somewhere to achieve a meaningful and valuable life. Unfortunately being beta males, they believed you to be an an alpha male, a leader, a messiah, instead of just another beta male who was just looking for help desperately. Beta males would trust anybody who looks authoritative and obey anybody who looks authoritarian. When you started the Fight Club first and showed them that you have a plan, they saw these both qualities.
After the doctor ends his explanation, the narrator is escorted back to his room.
Lying in his bed, he starts reasoning that the all white psychiatric hospital is paradise, and the psychiatrist is God.
His reasoning is interrupted, when a nurse with a black eye and a broken nose enters his room and says:
- Hello, Mr. Durden. Get better soon. We are looking forward for your comeback.
