I'm making this post in protest of todays Formula 1 race. I was watching intently all race. It was a nice safe start by all the drivers. There were a few great passes/attempted passes, some pit lane failures, etc. Nearing the end of the race, the pole sitter was trailing behind his last season rival by only two seconds. It was all building up to what was going to be a cracker of a finish. Then with about 90% of the race completed, Lewis Hamilton decides he doesn't feel like racing anymore. He feels it's better to "save his car" for the next race instead. Well fuck you Lewis Hamilton and Mercedes. The people of Australia didn't pay good money to see you give up. The people subscribing to watch "racing" on TV didn't pay to see drivers quit. Can you imagine if this was another sport? Lets say it was a baseball game. Two out, bottom of the ninth, bases loaded. Batter steps up to the plate and thinks, "You know what, I don't think I'm going to get a hit this at bat, so I'll just give up and save it for the next game."
That finish was nothing but a huge let down. If you think I'm going to waste my time/money watching racers give up without even trying to win, you're sadly mistaken. I feel this may have been the last race I will watch for quite some time. I have no patience for that kind of bullshit. Unfortunately this exact crap has been going on for far too long. Well that's enough for me. The F1 governing body can either start massively fining teams for pulling this shit, or they can fuck off.
