My wife and I are both attracted towards a more minimalist life... we both have lived it before and miss it. Most of my stuff at this point consists of tools, things for creating and fixing. Whether mechanical or electronical, I take pride in building things or keeping things running. How do you balance your desire for minimalism with your interest in self sufficiency to one degree or another? It is somewhat difficult, for instance, to "live minimally", but also keep the tools and facilities for repairing your one automobile. Gardening, food processing, and light farming requires a not insignificant number of "things". I feel we are moving towards a "large garage, small house" type situation, but am not sure if that will just feel like more work... has anyone else faced a similar debacle on one scale or another?
