While gasoline can likely keep for months to years, environmental factors such as heat, oxygen and humidity influence the fuel's condition, Speight said.
I don't doubt changing the fuel is the best course, but my October gas seems to run fine in April.

I agree, old gas has that smell that makes ya wanna chuck it.
