This is a subverse for those of us who are tired of the constant, largely unnecessary march of "progress" be that technological progress or social progress. We earn the title "luddites" simply for enjoying the way things are rather than constantly looking ahead and wishing we were somewhere, or someone else.
The irony of putting a forum for self-proclaimed luddites on the internet is not lost on me, but this being an unpopular view to hold in our modern world, and with members around the world, it's the most practical way to talk for now.
Subverses we like:
Post stories, news articles, pictures, whatever. This can be a place to discuss your frustration with the modern world, to connect with like-minded individuals, or to ask questions of us.
We know that some progress is good and that things are better now than they've ever been. We are more the "everything was better back when everything was worse" type people. Not all progress is good, and even seemingly great things can have nasty sides to them.
Rules:
I love what Voat stands for, so you will not be banned for having different opinions, but try and keep discussion at least a bit on-topic.
-
Nothing illegal. Anything illegal or even legally grey will be taken down.
-
No briggading. Leave people alone and they can leave us alone.
-
No preaching from techno-fiends. If you love your tech and modern views that's lovely, but this isn't the place for you. In the interests of free speech you will not be banned for most things, but repeated attempts to drag this sub to your view could result in a ban.

'So the actual price for building a “personal Google for everyone, everywhere” would in fact be zero privacy for everyone, everywhere. '
'But what’s really not OK, Google is the seismic privacy trade-offs involved here. '
'The Alphabet vision for hardware “Made by Google” is thus to sell the pledge of convenience to consumers. '
'Doesn’t sound quite so OK, Google, now does it?'
'So no, not OK Google. '
