You know, done right, this stuff could be the liberation of mankind or its doom. But thats been said since the 50's, particularly the 50's, the postwar economic boomtime, where the future of robots would give us the freetime to become artists, writers, visionaries, and within 20-30 years the next major recession hits to make that idea null and void.

Without the right politics all this kind of innovation will bring is mass unemployment and poverty. With the right politics we could have that vision come true, and the skills market takes over from the jobs market, giving an exponential boost to innovation and scientific progress.
