Google's android seems to be taking two potential paths - one is to become embedded within Chrome OS, and the other is to be merged with it, (Andromeda).

The first priority should be to ensure that people relying on CyanogenMod aren't screwed - I'm on Android so this won't benefit me, but if you want any support from the community, you can't stab the backs of those who have been adopters. Microsoft is infamous for promoting shit, then turning around and abandoning adopters.

To grow beyond support for CyanogenMod users, Lineagoe OS could eventually provide a better path towards mobile and desktop integration - Ubuntu's Convergence seems to be dead and I wonder if, as you say, putting the Linux parts back in (in a modular fashion) would be a way forward?

Developers need to be made to feel welcome, there needs to be a community agreement that no bait and switch will be pulled where Linage turns in to a commercial company a year down the track.

Not to be overly negative but unless there are huge changes in how they treat their community Linage won't get anywhere, it will quickly turn to cancer like Cyanogen Inc did.
