The law school I attended sent out a survey to alumni asking about whether the 3rd year of law school should be replaced with a year long internship. As far as I know, the results were never published. I don't know if the entire 3rd year should be an internship, but I certainly think a class that walks students through actual practice issues should be part of the curriculum. It just so happened that I took such a course my 3rd year. I signed up just because I was looking for credits to graduate and it fit my schedule. The professor was a local practicing attorney and walked us through the entire process of filing and responding to a case in the local jurisdiction. It was eye opening how much of the previous 2 years had nothing to do with being an actual practicing attorney.
