Avoid all sauces, tomato, bbq, ketchup, most chili sauces even. A few chili sauces are vinegar only I've found. Everything else is liquid sugar.

No kidding! It's a real shame too, I'll miss them.

here's a decently quick resource http://www.ketogenic-diet-resource.com/low-carb-vegetables.html

Asparagus should be on the under 5g list as well. I would break my Carb counting by meals. For breakfast I would typically have an Adkins bar that's 3 to 4g Net Carbs. That leaves me 8g for Lunch and 8g for Dinner.

Meat is free so I made sure I ate plenty of it(the fatty meats only) and just concentrated on sides when counting Carbs.

A cup of cooked broccoli is 4g and 2 oz of cheeze is about 1g.

That gives me 3g splerge on.

Ranch Dressing (2g per serv), More cheese!!!, 1oz of Pecans only has 1.2g Net Carbs. I would use the Ranch to dip my brocolli or other vegetables in, or save the Pecans and more cheese as a snack for later. Medium Sharp Cheddar Cheese was a staple for me.

Most important thing about Keto is you can't neglect your fat intake. Coconut Oil is king.

The Keto Cookbook called, "Quick & Easy Ketogenic Cooking" by Maria Emmerich has a lot of good information in it. I only regularly cooked a handful of items from it but it tought me a lot when it comes to converting the stuff I used to eat into Keto Friendly versions. There's a Chicken Alfredo in there that's great and a Snickerdoodle Cream Puff recipe that's a great snack.

THANK YOU!!! This is very very helpful. I've invested in a few cookbooks (and coconut oil) since my original post, and you're on the money.

That's great. Gotta figure out what works for you and don't listen to the crazy bread eaters out there. With that said, I was solid on Keto for 6 months and holy cow did it change me (for the good).

Here are my progress photos if you’re interested. https://voat.co/v/keto/1997153

My blood pressure and heart rate are down. I’m more alert in the morning and overall I feel much better.

I cheat on weekends now and Keto through the week, and so far my weight is staying the same….if not still dropping little by little.

I would suggest you stop focusing primarily on carbs. Fo us on portion control. I didn't eat a.slice of bread for 18 months and it made no difference. I eat regularly and a little more wisely.

Well, I figured checking my kilocalorie intake would lead to cutting my portion sizes--and it has. I'm just very frustrated that I can't seem to get my carbs under 20 like so many other keto-followers. I feel like it's a failure on my part, and I'd like to try to find ways to rectify it while keeping my kilocalories low.

Change you focus to burning more calories. Lift quicker/heavier and shorten rest periods.

We're not all the same.

And, limit fried foods.

Remember to subtract fiber from your carb daily total. This may lower your total daily carbs significantly if you aren't taking that into account.

I sometimes forget, but usually it doesn't make as much of a difference as I hope anyway. When I first researched keto it seemed to allow green veggies that grow above ground (i.e. most of the ones I mentioned, plus spinach and collards) but I'm beginning to feel like they're putting me more into a ditch then helping me out. :|

Sneaky carbs? Not sure what you mean, especially since thanks to labeling laws the nutrition content is printed on pretty much everything nowadays. So when I get to X grams of carb in a day I stop eating carbs. Simple, n'est pas?

But in answer to your question (there's a question?) my go-to snack is nuts. On that note Costco is selling a nut & seed butter that's a nice change from PB and goes with almost anything.

Well, sneaky might have been the wrong term, yes... But I was meaning like how many "low carb" foods actually have a LOT of carbs when you're looking at a 20g limit.

For instance, I go to zuchinni regularly for added nutrition in egg scrambles, mushrooms for sides to meat, green beans for fish, etc...

And just from those veggies I always seem to blast past my 20 carb limit. It's driving me up a wall honestly--am I going to have to cut out veggies entirely? Even the "safe" ones?

Well keto is very low carb so yeah if you're doing keto then vegies are problematic and that's just the way it is. For me low carb, ie. not keto, is sufficient to #1 feel great, and #2 don't have to worry about weight gain.
