Just because there are a lot of low carb lovers here, doesn't automatically mean they all love to talk about the shit 24x7 and feel the need to post about it on the Internet. It can be a part of our lives without it being the central focus of our lives. I for one, do not live my life around what I eat and I do not feel I need to spend more time than writing out my weekly menu on it. Spending valuable time posting about food online so I can push my eating experience or knowledge on others is stupid and arrogant, but you go ahead and spend you energy blabbing about food all you want if it makes you feel better. I have better things to do with my life than making the food I eat some sort of primary focus.

You seem mad. I wasn't insinuated that one needs to talk about it all the time, just that some life into a relatively dead sub would be nice. It can be a source of motivation and encouragement to those who are struggling and a source of new information to those who are unaware. As of the past few months I have seen a lot of pro-keto threads, but not a lot of life here. It would be like if there were a lot of discussions on David Bowie, but no one on v/Bowie.

But if you want to resort to a paragraph of hyperbole, be my guest.

Blah blah blah... I agree with FloridaGuy. I guess some need a "support group" in order to get the support and motivation they need to be able to eat properly. I don't get it either and I'm guessing that's the point he's trying to make. I know how to eat a reasonable meal so I don' t get fat, I don't need a support group to chat about it. I know I need to exercise to maintain a healthy weight and body, no need to read a book or search for information online on how to ride a bike, and I don't have to whine in some forum to figure it out either. Lastly, insulting anyone with input by reducing their opinion to "... a paragraph of hyperbole" seems par for the course for you "foodie" cliques anyway. Your inability to appreciate and respect dissension is showing. Not only that, but I don't think that word means what you think it means, I didn't see any exaggeration or strong rhetoric in FloridaGuy's rant - It looks like he meant it to be taken quite literally.

Want motivation? Visit FPH, they will not sugar-coat it. You can thank me later.

Not long. I hit a plateau and needed a change. About a month to a month and a half.

Apparently not so dead if you've gotten a response like this in three hours. A flourishing sub needs someone to post content. Is that person going to be you? Are you going to post recipes, videos, stories once or twice a week? Others will jump on board but most people won't take the lead.

OK, I'll bite. What good is a low carb diet?

As with anything else, doing your own research is important. Keto in particular keeps your body in ketosis, rather than glycolysis, which makes your body feed om fats rather than sugars. All carbs are broken down into sugars in the body which raises blood sugar, and if prolonged, causes heart disease and diabetes.

The problem with the standard western diet isn't too much meat, it's too much bread/pasta/rice. Even whole grains aren't good for you.

Don't eat carbs.

Some people don't know what that even means. No vegetables or fruit? Do they count net carbs?

Don't eat excessive protein.

What's excessive to you?

Eat only good fat

What qualifies a good fat? Many people are finding animal fats perfectly healthy, there is a difference in grass-fed beef fat and factory farmed beef fat, is olive oil really that healthy? Not everything is so obvious.

Get other good molecules.

This is true. We need good molecules, quarks, crystals, minerals, and energies in our bodies to make good.
