It wasn't originally supposed to land, just orbit Duna and Ike to plan a rover landing. But I orbited Duna too low, and started to fall towards the surface. As a last effort to stop falling, I tried to point myself prograde and burn. But I forgot that Duna has an atmosphere, which was resisting my ship's movement. So I ditched the extra 4 fuel tanks I had, and tried everything I could to turn prograde and get out. No luck. As I am pulled through the thin atmosphere, my thermal panels fly off. I decide to try and land the single nerv engine, fuel tank and two solar panels. I turn on the engine and realize that I have more than enough fuel to land. So I did.

This is either A) The best example of Kerbaling I have ever seen. B) The luckiest fucking thing I have ever seen. C) Both.

Thanks! After watching Scott Manley's video on how to land on Duna, I just eyeballed the 45 degree angle and got an encounter right away. It was the most satisfying thing ever.

You should check out my maps of Duna. You can then tell us were you landed. :)
