Of course! That's kinda the point of KSP, isn't it? And you're not risking anything besides possibly time - but even if you don't hit the mark (or make it back) you'll still have fun, so it's all good.

Good point. I want to send a manned mission, but I am awful at building things that are meant to land in an area, rather than a body.

Well, it helps to use a mod such as SCANSAT, which allows you to make a map of any body. At the same time the map will automatically highlight where the anomaly is, and where your orbit is (if you're currently orbiting that body). That way, you can get an orbit coming directly over the arch, and just burn retrograde once start getting close. The lack of atmosphere on the Mun makes hitting the exact spot easy compared to Kerbin; you just cancel most (or all) of your velocity and fall down.

That's half the fun, though! New designs, new concepts, and fiery explosions! Though this mod may help. Best of luck!

I'm not sure if you get any extra science or anything there, I've been to the arch but that was before science and career mode. :/
