The culture at voat is great. We all understand that debating isn't about who is right, but the exchange of information. Hell, I play devils advocate a lot just to explore perspectives.

No one is discouraged from voicing dumb opinions. Just need to be prepared when people destroy your logic. Its great.

I guess if my logic can be destroyed it isn't all that logical. I'm happy to be schooled by someone who knows what they are talking about.

FPH

The FatPeopleHate subreddit was banned about 7 months ago, with very questionable judgement and handling of the entire incident.

Alpha

Until 11:59 PM on December 31, 2015, every new account got a little "Alpha tester" badge on their profile.

pro-GMO shill

Genetically Modified Organisms are when living organisms (such as the plants and animals that make up the food we eat) are modified in a lab on the genetic level. Some people say that it is just a faster version of the "selective breeding" that we have been doing to our crops for thousands of years (with the highest efficiency occurring after Mendel's pea plant experiments {1856-1863} helped our scientific community begin to understand heredity), while others are quick to point out the controversies associated with these genetically modified foods.

The only truly dumb question is the one you never ask.

Ignorance is not knowing. But knowing you don't know is the first step to overcoming it. As long as you don't fall victim to the Dunning-Kruger effect (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dunning–Kruger_effect) you'll be just fine. Based on you comment history, you are A-OK in my book.

Well, reddit just banned me for posting dox when I was only asking for dox. I feel highly inclined to start tracking down dox of their admins just for the lulz now.

It is probably best to avoid doxing.
