Welcome to Voat. You might be interested in /v/KotakuInAction and /v/Gamergate as well as /v/MeanwhileOnReddit which serves somewhat as a watchdog over reddit itself.

The bot bannings are a recent and quite problematic issue over there and I expect they will lead to more and more Voat users over time.

And they are not considering unbanning anyone or even reading any mod mails requesting an unban (all mail related to this gets a form letter reply stating the ban is irreversible), and they are threatening shadowbans for anyone who protests.

What the fuck is happening over there? They ban everyone who "dares" argue on a forum and locks thread that don't go their way...

Are there no mods over there thinking: "maybe this is irrationally tyrannical"?

I no longer care, I tried reasoning with them and got stonewalled when I asked them what rule I broke to get banned from their subs.

No shit...

I thought the mods's behaviour was frustrating 6 months ago when I deleted my accounts, but now it's just crazy town.

Sorry to hear that, I still go on Reddit but I think the time is coming where I'll be done too. Welcome to Voat.

You'll like it here. Voat is like KiA with a gun fetish and a lot more swear words.

What is KiA?

What do you mean by 'ethical journalism'? Could you give us some examples of ethical and unethical journalism?

KiA is /r/KotakuinAction and /v/KotakuInAction, a subreddit and subverse dedicated to the completely unethical gaming journalism field. You can check them out. For examples of unethical journalism look no further than buzzfeed, salon, jezebel, kotaku, pretty much anything run by Gawker.
